TOR Colour Lab - 2-4pm on 19th May 2024 - 2-hour natural dye workshop

Come, play and experiment with natural dyes and plant colour in this 2 hour workshop. Purchase a wearable item to paint your own on the day below.

Discover the amazing variety of colour found in nature and explore a number of dyeing techniques using plant materials on natural fibres.

In this workshop you will have the opportunity to explore painting and creating patterns on fibre and ph modifying:

• Play with plant colour on natural fibre swatches and see what colour you can get from a variety of natural materials - extracted from eucalyptus leaves, food waste, flowers and some natural material extracts

• Use extracted natural dye colour and pigments to paint on watercolour paper and play with ph modifications to create a beautiful natural dye painting (an art piece to take home!)

• Use extracted natural dye colour and pigments to paint on larger silk or cotton squares and play with ph modifications to create a beautiful natural dye painting (an art piece to take home!)

• Purchase a wearable item to dye or paint on the day:

  • Workshop add on $70, select from - eco cotton baseball cap, organic cotton crop tee, or large silk scarf (90x90cm)

  • Workshop add on $50, select from - small silk scarf (55x55cm), small cotton scarf (60x60cm), cotton socks or a silk eye mask

No natural dye experience required - this is about colour play and experimentation.
